The collection takes its name from the place where the material was extracted. Specifically, these are some and important Sicilian basins in which the famous Etna lava stone, the Modica stone and the Pece stone are extracted.
Lava stone is a highly resistant volcanic rock with particular structural characteristics that make it very popular also in interior design works.
The stone of Modica, a calcareous rock with a golden white color extracted in almost superficial layers, has excellent workability and has been widely used in the past in the Sicilian Baroque masterpieces.
The Pece stone, whose quarrying area is Ragusa, represents a variant of the Modica stone with a burnished color. It has a slightly softer structure and the particularity of being soaked in hydrocarbons present in the subsoil. For this particular feature, in the past, it was used as an insulating material in the entrance floors and in the boiserie of noble buildings. Within the collection, the Sicilian designer has created three washbasins, one with an oval shape (ESCHILO) and two with a circular shape (OMERO and TIRTEO).
